Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction MBSR
The ideal way to seriously engage with mindfulness is through the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) training. In this 8-week training you will experience what mindfulnes can do for you. The training will equip you to grasp the essence of mindfulness, meditate independently, and integrate it into your daily life.

Mindfulness training on-site in Utrecht
The mindfulness training in Utrecht consists of 8 evening sessions, each lasting 2-2,5 hours (from 7:30 PM to 9:30/10:00 PM),
and a 1-day silence retreat (from 10 AM to 5 PM). The training is provided by Joris Verhees, a category 1 mindfulness trainer and a member of the VVM.
The next MBSR training will take place in 2025 on Wednesday evenings (starting March 12th) and Tuesday evenings (starting May 6th). These courses are in Dutch.

What is the background of mindfulness and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) training?In the 1970s, the American physician Jon Kabat-Zinn brought mindfulness to the Western world through the development of the MBSR program. He combined elements of Buddhist meditation with Western psychological principles to promote stress reduction and emotional well-being.

Is mindfulness training (MBSR) covered by health insurance?Yes, some health insurance companies provide reimbursement for mindfulness training. An overview of this can be found here: https://www.zorgwijzer.nl/vergoeding/mindfulness#vergoedingen. The condition for this is that the trainer has completed the highest level of training (category 1) and is affiliated with a professional association (VMBN or VVM). Joris has completed the highest level of mindfulness training, both the basic and advanced courses, making him a category 1 trainer. In addition, he is registered at the VVM since January 1st 2024. The training will be partially reimbursed by some health insurance companies from January 1st 2024.
